Q&A:
I like this ad because it caught my attention. It caught my attention because there is a guy running off the treadmill, there is this other guy standing in his house nude with the blinds open, and a girl walking into the door. I was hooked. That kind of stuff is hilarious! This ad is effective because in the beginning of it the audience does not really know what is going on. We just think there are some really dumb people commanding certain things to do certain actions but in the end the ad shows us a new device called Sync and one can tell it to do certain things like call home/office or open a garage door. Humor is used in the form of a guy running onto and then off of a treadmill, another guy commanding his blinds closed and then taking off his robe and standing in the window naked with his next door neighbor looking at him, and a girl wearing a white blouse running into a door and spilling her drink all over her. Puffery is used when the ad tells the audience “Not everything responds to your voice like Sync.” I think the ad is really selling the perfect life, where everything responds to your voice and you don’t have to do a single thing. Yes, the placement of the ad was effective in reaching the ad’s target market. The target market is young adults like myself and I, like most other young adults, was watching the new episode of The Hills on MTV. I have not yet purchased this product because I am a poor college student but maybe once I make a little extra cash I will.
